The NSW state government is incompetent in any number of ways, but I think this is taking the blame game one step too far:

Shark attacks: blame laid
NSW Government under fire after third shark attack in Sydney.

I’m sorry, but if you go in the ocean, you run the risk of being eaten by a shark.  That’s it, end of story, no discussion.  It’s not the government’s fault that predatory animals act as, you know, predators in their home environment.

Surfing is great.  Swimming in the ocean is great.  But nowhere is it written that it must be safe.  It can’t be safe.  Want to do those things? Run the risk of attack.  Is it sad when it happens? Yes.  It is anybody’s fault?  Definitely not.

  1. Totally agree and I just laughed when I heard it. Not only is swimming in the sea dangerous, but doing so at dawn and dusk is a thousand times more, because its when sharks feed. Blaming the NSW government? Priceless!

  2. Lol! I was just telling my friend how ridiculous that is. What do they want? A trap over the shark’s mouth?
I see, no one’s waging war on jelly fish.
