I finally started watching Mad Men yesterday: my goodness it’s a good show. It seems to me the really interesting stuff being made at the moment is almost all on TV, and there really is no shortage of good shows. At the moment, I’ve been watching How I Met Your Mother, The Office, 30 Rock, Chuck, Breaking Bad, Mad Men and Gossip Girl. And they’re all good.
I should mention Chuck in particular, ’cause I think it’s a show that doesn’t get the props it deserves. Granted, it’s an absurd premise (computer geek gets government secrets downloaded into his brain), but it’s a sweet story, with likeable characters, and the “Nerd Herd” at the Buy More are every bit as interesting, fun, and important to the story as the whole CIA/NSA plot. It’s really worth checking out Season One on DVD.
Oh, and there’s a cute romantic subplot, which never, ever goes astray.
