And so begins a new Naysayer series:  things I love that I highly recommend, because they are awesome.  It shall be titled My Favourite Things.

This is the song Northern Sky, by Nick Drake.  I am an old sap, and this is about the most romantic song I can imagine.  It’s exactly how falling in love should be.

A funny story about this song.  A few years ago, my brother was asked to play at a friend’s wedding.  They wanted him to perform while they signed the register.  He could play anything he deemed appropriate.  He asked if I felt Northern Sky was a good wedding song.  I had to confess that I planned, if I ever got married, to walk down the aisle to it.  So yes, it was a good wedding song.

Look at these love words:

“Would you love me for my money
Would you love me for my head
Would you love me through the winter
Would you love me ’til I’m dead
Oh, if you would and you could
Come blow your horn on high.”

Absolutely one of my all-time top-5 songs, and a worthy start to My Favourite Things.
