Frightened Rabbit are playing at Splendour in the Grass. That’s right. THE Frightened Rabbit. Also playing are Midlake, who I adore… I mean, they wrote a concept album about THE OREGON TRAIL (and yes, I know that’s just a rumour, but still, I freaking loved that game).
But FRIGHTENED RABBIT. Oh, how I love them. I have had such bad luck seeing them live, and now they’re coming here when I am here. I may finally, finally get to see them.
Even weirder is that my favourite local band, the delightful Cloud Control about whom I have blogged, oh, 170,000 times have a higher billing than FR. A long way from the dingy pub near central station where I first saw them play, opening for an enthusiastic cover band, in a room that smelled bad and wasn’t half-full. I’m proud of them.
I’m going to do my best to get Splendour tickets, ’cause it would be awesome, but I doubt I will ’cause they sell out so quickly, so I’m just going to have to hope FR do a side show. Midlake have already announced theirs and Clouds, well, I’ve seen them once or twice. Plus their super-exciting debut LP launch is next month, and I wouldn’t miss that for all the world.
Here’s more FR, for what does a blogger exist for, but to pimp their favourite bands.
